What we do
At FJ Loock Land Surveyors we generate written fee proposals for all projects regardless of size. When appointed, we provide a prompt, professional, efficient and reliable service that keeps our clients coming back.
Topographical and Engineering Surveys
Topographical surveys
Topographic Surveys are used to identify and map the contours of the ground and existing features on the surface of the earth or slightly above or below the earth’s surface (i.e. trees, buildings, streets, walkways, manholes, utility poles, retaining walls, etc.). If the purpose of the survey is to serve as a base map for the design of a residence or building of some type, or design a road or driveway, it may be necessary to show perimeter boundary lines and the lines of easements on or crossing the property being surveyed, in order for a designer to accurately show zoning and other agency required setbacks.

Topographic Surveys require “bench marks” to which ground contours are related, information regarding surface and underground utilities, determination of required setbacks, etc.

Topographical Services Offered
  • Digital terrain modelling
  • Detailed contour plans
  • Photo Control surveys
  • Engineering Surveys
Engineering Surveying is an important disciplinary field that serves construction projects. It provides geospatial information for construction projects.
    Engineering Services Offered

  • Area and Volume calculations
  • AERIAL SURVEYS (Photogrammetric)
    UAV Features & Methodology
  • Professional Aerial mapping
  • Collects aerial photography of 1-10sqkm in a single flight at down to 5cm precision. The eBee has a flight time of up to 45 minutes allowing to cover areas of up to 10sqkm in a single flight. With its 16MP camera it can shoot aerial imagery at down to 3cm/pixel resolution. The images can then be used to create maps and elevation models with a precision of 5cm.
    • 96cm wingspan
    • less than 0.7kg take-off weight
    • 16MP camera, electronically integrated and controlled
    • Lithium polymer battery
    • 45 minutes of flight time
  • 36-57km/h (10-16m/s) cruise speed
  • Up to 45km/h (12m/s) wind resistance
  • Up to 3km radio link
  • Covers up to 1.5-10km2
  • Linear landing
  • Image resolution of 3-30cm/pixel (depending on flight altitude)
  • The eBee’s ground sensor is composed of a high-speed optical sensor and lens assembly that can estimate the distance to the ground with high accuracy. This sensor helps the eBee land softly, in more varied terrain and with more precision than is possible by using only GPS. This is an example of processing with Postflight Terra 3D 2.1.1 in Switserland made with and eBee.
    • Area: 0.57 km2
    • Ground resolution: 5 cm/px
    • Flight height: 162m
    • Number of images: 297
    With GCP's:
Relative accuracy: 1-3 x ground sampling distance (also achievable w/o GCP’s)
Absolute accuracy: 1-3 x ground sampling distance
    EXAMPLE: 130m flight altitude, 73 images, 0.13 km2 covered, 6cm ground distance.
    – 5.6cm mean location error (x=2.8cm, y=3.8cm, z=1.7cm) with GCP’s.
Once on site it can be launched by hand, after which it will autonomously follow a flight path mapped out in advance by the user, via the included eMotion 2 software. Users are also able to take control of the UAV at any point, and remotely pilot it in real time. Upon completion of its flight, it can land itself without any human intervention – thanks partially to an integrated ground sensor and the ability to run its motor in reverse.

    Software used for processing

Postflight Terra 3D-EB is a professional photogrammetry software that runs on your desktop computer or laptop. It processes aerial imagery to 2D maps and 3D models with centimeter accuracy.
To enhance results Postflight Terra 3D-EB allows manual editing and brightness control. It is also the perfect tool if you want to process drone imagery with traditional photogrammetric software, generally not able to process small drone imagery. Postflight Terra 3D-EB will provide you with camera calibration parameters and lists of matching features, enabling rapid processing through most classic photogrammetric software.

    Aerial Photography Services Offered

We provide the latest in UAV aerial photography surveys. With the eBee MKII we can produce high quality mosaics using professional photographic equipment and the latest post processing software. The Final high resolution product can then be used for:

  • Surveys – Topographic plans
  • Developments
  • Agriculture
  • Civil Construction
  • Game farms
  • Retail
  • Real Estate
  • The small UAV can be deployed anywhere, flight plans and parameters can be modified on site within minutes.

    Few of our projects completed:

  • 5000 hectares in Tete Mozambique for Developing.
  • 120 hectare in Carolina area for building of dams.
  • Sewer processing plant in North West for Upgrading.
  • Boschhoek Game farm Stands for Architect design purposes
  • CADASTRAL SERVICES
Cadastral surveying is the discipline of land surveying that relates to the laws of land ownership and the definition of property boundaries. It involves interpreting and advising on boundary locations, on the status of land ownership and on the rights, restrictions and interests in property, as well as the recording of such information for use on plans, maps, etc. It also involves the physical delineation of property boundaries and determination of dimensions, areas and certain rights associated with properties, whether they are on land, water or defined by natural or artificial features. Cadastral surveys are generally performed to subdivide land into parcels for ownership under a land title and to re-establish boundaries of previously surveyed properties to determine the physical extent of ownership or to facilitate the transfer of the property title.
    Deliverables
    Sub-Divisional Diagram:
This is framed for the purpose of cutting off a portion of a parent proper.

    Servitude Diagram:
For registering servitudes over an existing property.

    Lease Diagram:
For registering long leases over portions of properties.

    Consolidation Diagram:
When it is required to consolidate several individual properties into one, taking out certificates of consolidated title.

    General Plan:
In the case of the subdivision of a piece of land into a number of pieces, the land surveyor usually prepares a general plan instead of individual diagrams. This is a document showing the relative position of two or more pieces of land together with the same essential information in respect of each piece as is required on a diagram. It is also allocated a unique reference number by the Surveyor-General. It is compulsory to prepare a general plan for any subdivision into ten or more pieces of land and when required in terms of any law, usually for township establishment or the amendment of an existing general plan. General plans may comprise many sheets and depict a very large number of erven (lots). A Professional Land Surveyor, who is registered with the South African Geomatics Council, is the only person authorised to perform cadastral surveys in South Africa.
